Thursday 9/8 ~ After a Full Irish Breakfast we'll attend mass at the Ballina Manor Hotel we'll board our coach and we will stop at "Ballintubber Abbey the Abbey that refused Die". The Mass has been said in the Ballintubber Abbey without a break since the year of it’s foundation in 1216. We have often heard of the heroic struggle of the Irish people to keep the faith in spite of dungeons, fire and sword. Nothing emphasises this fact more for us than the story of Ballintubber Abbey. For 236 years the people were attending Mass in the unroofed Abbey exposed to the cold and the wind and the rain. This is not mere conjecture; the photographs of 1865 show the congregation kneeling on the grass covered ground. The priest has finished Mass; the vestments may be seen on the altar while the priest continues the instruction of the children. Though the Mass is over the people still continue to kneel, drinking in the word of God. In this modern age of heated air-conditioned churches it is good for us to meditate on what our forefathers endured to practice the faith which Saint Patrick planted so deeply in Baile tobair Phádraig- the townland of the well of Saint Patrick. You will not want to leave the abbey; it possesses you with warmth. But we will! It's back on our coach to head to the "The Wild Atlantic Way" Via Achill Island. Along the way, we will view some of the world's most scenic beauty. We will stop to take photos enjoy the fresh sea air. The breath-taking views of the Atlantic Ocean and shoreline will remain with us for a lifetime. This evening on our way back to Ballina, we’ll stop for dinner at Nevin’s Inn. A family owned and operated restaurant known for their food and hospitality. We should arrive in Ballina early enough for those who might like a last call in the hotel's pub.
Saturday 9/17/2022 ~ After a Full Irish Breakfast we will be taken directly to Dublin airport. We will say our goodbyes to Ireland and fly to the land of the brave and the land of the free. For those of us who took the coach to the Philadelphia Airport from Catonsville, that same coach will meet you in Philly to take you back to your car where you were picked-up on September 4th 2022.

After a prayer of thanks at Trinitarian Abbey we will continue our journey North to 'The Cliffs of Moher'. The Cliffs are over 700 feet above the Atlantic and will leave us excited and humbled. We will depart from 'The Cliffs' and travel North to Galway. Galway historically is known as "The City of Tribes" more currently it is known as a college town alive with the spirit of young Irish students. Galway has many points of interest not the least of which is the pubs and restaurants. Your guide, Anne will help you find things most interesting to you. Tuesday 9/6 ~ After a Full Irish breakfast at the Eyre hotel we'll attend mass then we board our coach to travel inland to the Clonmacnoise Monastic Site. A spectacular monastery on the banks of the River Shannon. We will enjoy an exclusive private tour of the Clonmacnoise Settlement. You will hear stories of how Vikings and other Irish raided and plundered the settlement! St Ciarán founded his monastery on the banks of the River Shannon in the 6th Century. The monastery flourished and became a great seat of learning, a University of its time with students from all over Europe. The ruins include a Cathedral, two round Towers, three high crosses, nine Churches and over 700 Early Christian graveslabs. We will leave Clonmacnoise and stop at "Sean's Bar" for a light late lunch. Sean's Bar is the oldest bar in Europe! We will hear the story of the pub and how they believe Whiskey was first introduced to the Irish on the location! Patrick will pick-up the check for our light lunch! You are on your own for your drinks. We will return to Galway where we will have dinner as a group in a restaurant to be determined.
Wednesday 9/7 ~ After mass and a Full Irish breakfast at the Eyre hotel we will check-out board the coach and drive North towards Ballina. On the way we will visit Kylemore Abbey. Kylemore Abbey is a community of Benedictine nuns, women committed to witnessing to the Gospel of Jesus through the monastic life of prayer, work, and community according to the Rule of St. Benedict at Kylemore Abbey in the heart of Connemara, Co. Galway and within the Archdiocese of Tuam.
Since arriving in Kylemore on 4 December 1920, their community has been anchored in the spiritual, social, educational, and cultural life of Connemara and of Ireland through their monastic life, their mission, and their stewardship of Kylemore Estate.
For over three hundred years the community expressed its outreach of hospitality primarily in the education of Catholic girls in Ypres and later in Kylemore. The closure of their school in 2010 gave us the opportunity to explore our understanding of their mission . Today, they are engaged in developing a mission of Benedictine hospitality at Kylemore for the future.
A visit to Kylemore is more than an enjoyable outing. It is an encounter with a unique place that invites the visitor to relax and attend to what she is experiencing:
• a place of stunning natural beauty
• a warm welcome, catering in a simple yet excellent manner to the needs of the visitor;
• a history of the human stewardship of this estate – land-use, architecture, horticulture – balancing respect for the environment and the needs of human beings;
• a beautiful place, demonstrating what can be created and maintained by endeavour, resilience, and optimism of the owners of the estate and the local people through the vicissitudes of 200 years in Connemara;
• discovering that behind this experience is a faith community living a life of prayer centred on God the Creator, and an invitation to experience their worship.
Tonight, and the next 3 nights we will be staying at The Ballina Manor Hotel. We will dine tonight at the Ballina Manor hotel.

Unique to the Knock Apparition was appearance of a Lamb standing before a Cross on a plain altar and surrounded by angels. The Apparition lasted for about two hours and 15 official witnesses gave their testimonies to a Commission of Enquiry in October of that year.
