Day 9: Thursday, October 4th - after a full Irish breakfast, about 10am, we will board our coach and to visit Kinsale. The battle of Kinsale was the ultimate battle in England's conquest of Gaelic Ireland, commencing in October 1601, near the end of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, and at the climax of the Nine Years War campaign by the O’Neill’s and O’Donnell’s and other Irish lords against English rule. In this century the bloodshed is but a distance memory. The battle of Kinsale has been replaced with a pleasant harbor view with: Shops, Bistros and Pubs. We will enjoy a stroll in Kinsale and maybe stop for a pint of Murphy’s. Then it’s back on the coach, we’re going to Cobh. The Titanic’s last stop was Cobh! A statue of Annie Moore and her two brothers stand silently on the dock. An exact replica is in the New York Harbor.
